In the early days of LGBTQ+ liberation, there was much animosity between the individual groups, especially coalitions of lesbians, drag queens, and transvestites who felt left out. The audience boos, cheers, and brawls, while spars are thrown onstage by of (STAR), of (LFL), and of (QLF). MC gracefully reminds all, “If we pick apart every word of every speech that every person makes on this stage, we will be fighting in the streets with each other instead of the people who hate us!!!” A beautiful glimpse into the early tumult of Gay Liberation. Sylvia Rivera Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries Jean O’Leary Lesbian Feminist Liberation Lee Brewster Queens Liberation Front Vito Russo “Will the younger generation have a larger number of ‘Golden Gays’ as there’s much less social pressure to question sexuality or to feel the need to try being straight or bi?” Listener Question: - a gay man who’s never had sex with a woman. Golden Gay The Guncles believe that in our changing socio-cultural landscape, there will likely be more Golden Gays, however there’s much evidence to show that younger generations are having less and less sex, while dating is being relegated to aps… a double-edged sword. “I’m a 52 year old guy who recently came out. What is your advice for how to catch up on half-a-lifetime of gay experiences? How to meet people? Any pitfalls?” Listener Question: The Guncles share encouragement and offer wholesome to spicey suggestions.
